Lake Chatuge < >

Beautiful Lake Chatuge is nestled between Hiawassee, Georgia and Hayesville, North Carolina.  This gorgeous lake has 133 miles of shoreline and is perfect for fishing, swimming, boating (water sports) and camping.

Lake Chatuge was founded in 1942. The entire lake is approximately 7,200 acres and has an abundance of scenic coves.

The TVA constructed a 2,950 foot earth-filled dam when the lake was built for the purpose of flood control; yet everyone loves walking across the dam and enjoying the spectacular lake and mountain views.

The northern end of Lake Chatuge is in North Carolina and the south side of Lake Chatuge is in North Georgia. Its southern shores are in the Chattahoochee National Forest and its northern shores in the Nantahala National Forest.
